Editorial Policy

Senior Care Malaysia is committed to publishing accurate, balanced, and clinically reviewed information about senior care in Malaysia. Every article, guide, and care resource on this platform is produced according to the editorial standards described below.

How Our Content Is Written

All articles, guides, and care resource pages on Senior Care Malaysia are produced by a team of trained health writers with backgrounds in health communication, nursing, or allied health. Our writers hold relevant tertiary qualifications and are required to:

  • Base all factual claims on primary sources: Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) publications, peer-reviewed medical journals, official government statistics (Department of Statistics Malaysia, JKM), or major international health bodies (WHO, CDC)
  • Cite all sources directly within the content or in a dedicated references section
  • Avoid anecdotal claims, speculation, or generalisations not supported by published data
  • Use language accessible to non-medical readers without sacrificing clinical accuracy
  • Disclose any content produced in partnership with commercial sponsors (advertorials are clearly labelled)

Content that involves health conditions, symptoms, medications, or clinical care recommendations is always referred to our medical review team before publication.

How Content Is Medically Reviewed

All health-related content on Senior Care Malaysia is reviewed by one or more members of our medical review panel before publication and at regular intervals thereafter. Our reviewers are Malaysian-registered healthcare professionals holding current practising certificates with the relevant regulatory body (Malaysian Medical Council, Malaysian Nursing Board, or equivalent).

The review process includes:

  • Checking all clinical statements for accuracy against current Malaysian clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) issued by MOH
  • Verifying that any drug names, dosage references, or treatment recommendations reflect current best practice
  • Confirming that statistical claims are correctly attributed and appropriately contextualised for a Malaysian population
  • Flagging any content that may be outdated due to guideline changes or new research

Upon completion, the reviewer's name, credentials, and the date of review are displayed on the relevant page. The "Medically reviewed by" badge on each article links to the reviewer's profile on this page.

Content Update and Review Cycle

Health information changes. What was accurate two years ago may no longer reflect current Malaysian MOH guidelines or emerging clinical evidence. Senior Care Malaysia operates a structured content review cycle:

Annually: All articles covering chronic disease management, medication guidance, and care facility regulatory requirements are reviewed and updated. Every 6 months: Pages covering rapidly evolving topics (dementia research, government subsidy programmes, care home licensing requirements) are reviewed. On-demand: Any page flagged by a reader, healthcare professional, or team member as potentially inaccurate is reviewed and corrected within 14 working days.

Each page displays a "Last reviewed" date alongside the reviewer's name. If you notice content that appears outdated or inaccurate, please contact us at info@seniorcaremalaysia.com with the page URL and the specific concern.

Corrections and Error Policy

Senior Care Malaysia takes factual accuracy seriously. If we publish content that is later found to be incorrect or misleading, we will:

1. Correct the error promptly (typically within 5 working days of notification) 2. Add a visible correction note at the top of the affected page explaining what was changed and when 3. Update the "Last reviewed" date to reflect the correction 4. For significant clinical errors, request a full re-review by a qualified medical reviewer before republishing

We do not remove or silently alter published content to hide errors. Transparency about corrections builds reader trust and is a core principle of responsible health publishing.

To report an error or concern, email info@seniorcaremalaysia.com with subject line "Content Correction Request" and include the page URL and a description of the issue.
